Cookies for the Christmas tree

A fun recipe to make together during the holidays. Shortbread cookies that not only taste delicious, but also look beautiful hanging on the Christmas tree! Get all the ingredients out of the cupboard, put on some festive Christmas music, and light the candles. Enjoying the holidays together is the best thing there is, right?
You will need
200 grams of flour
75 grams of sugar
1 egg yolk
1 bag of vanilla sugar
125 grams of butter
1tablespoon ofcold water
Set of 2 gold heart cookie cutters
Steel straw (or paper straw)
Baking sheet with parchment paper
Rolling pin
String

STEP 1
Prepare the ingredients and allow the butter to come to room temperature so that it can be easily kneaded later.
STEP 2
Put the flour, sugar, and vanilla sugar in a bowl. Add the cubed butter and egg yolk. Mix until crumbly.

STEP 3
Then add a tablespoon of water (use theZusss measuring spoon) and knead the dough with your hands into a firm ball. Is it still very dry? Then add a little extra water. Is it very sticky? Then add a little flour to the dough.
STEP 4
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for half an hour. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius.

STEP 5
Remove the dough from the refrigerator and then from the foil. Use flour for the surface and roll out the dough with a rolling pin. Press thecookie cuttersonto the dough and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Leave enough space between the cookies.
STEP 6
Bake the cookies for 15 minutes until golden brown. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and use thesteel straw(or a paper straw) to poke holes in the cookies. Do this immediately after removing the cookies from the oven and leave enough space around the edges so that they don't break easily.

STEP 7
Let the cookies cool, thread a piece of string through the hole, and you're done! This makes decorating the tree really fun and tasty.
TIP!
Do you prefer savory snacks? Then you can also use the cookie cutters for puff pastry (with pesto and cheese). Make your table extra festive with ourcocktail sticks!
