Materials & care

At Zusss, we choose materials with care. Each fabric has its special properties. Wearing comfort, quality and a sustainable choice are among other important pillars in designing the Zusss collection. To maintain the quality of your new Zusss garment, we like to inform you with care tips for each material. Together we ensure that you can enjoy your garment longer.

Before a Zusss item goes into production, we carry out washing and pilling tests. Shrinkage and pilling of fabrics is thus minimized, although unfortunately this is not entirely preventable. Therefore, always follow the washing instructions on the washing label on the inside of each garment. Want to read more about materials and their care? cotton-Zusss

Cotton is strong as a fiber, making it a durable material. Long resistant to wear and tear. Cotton is a natural fiber, grows from the seeds of the cotton plant. The material is breathable. Cotton feels comfortable on the skin. Wash garments inside out whenever possible. Keep a temperature of 30 degrees for washing cotton. Dry inside out, hanging on a drying rack with indirect sunlight. Cotton has low elasticity and can therefore wrinkle easily. Iron your cotton blend garment inside out at up to 110 degrees.

polyester-and-polyamide-Zusss

Polyester and polyamide are smooth, lightweight, durable fabrics. A combination of various synthetic fibers that have a hard-wearing nature. A characteristic of these materials is that it retains its color. It is immune to sunlight, easy to wash and it does not shrink. It may be washed inside out at 30 degrees and dries very quickly. If you want to iron it, then inside out, but this is usually not necessary. This fabric is of light weight, easy to fold and it dries quickly because it is water repellent.

linen-Zusss

Properties of linen are its wrinkle resistance, breathability, soft fabric and environmental friendliness. Linen is the strongest variety of plant fibers. Linen shirts and linen pants are breathable and ventilate well. While wearing, linen may give out slightly, after washing it regains its original shape. Do not wash linen at higher than 30 degrees. Use as few chemicals as possible on linen, this can damage the fibers. Carefully pull the garment into shape and hang it inside out on a drying rack. In some cases, linen can be tumble dried. Please read the washing label for each item. Linen has low elasticity and creases quickly. Iron linen carefully.

wool-Zusss

Wool is an animal fiber consisting of soft, thin animal hairs. Among other things, it comes from sheep. Wool is elastic and breathable material and will therefore retain heat and odors less. Little or nothing has been added to wool. However, it may cause your garment to pill faster. This is characteristic of wool. You can carefully remove the pills on your clothing with a pilling machine. Wool is nice and soft and wrinkle-free. Wash your wool item as little as possible to preserve its quality. Preferably air your item lying down. Would you rather wash it anyway? Then we advise you to use a hand wash/wool wash program and let it air dry. Preferably do not use an iron. Store your wool item lying down in the closet. This will prevent knits from hanging out or growing.

denim-Zusss

Denim is a strong, notched cotton fabric. To make jeans blue, cotton yarns are twisted into twine and dyed. The weaving technique, the twill weave, makes the fabric very strong. To keep denim beautiful, wash your garment inside out. Use detergent for colored laundry. During the first wash(s), denim garments may shed color. Therefore, wash them with similar colors. Hang denim to dry inside out. Occasionally you can put denim in the dryer, but on a low temperature. Follow the advice on the care label per item. Denim can be steamed and ironed. This is not necessarily necessary if hung out after washing.

viscose-Zusss

Viscose is a natural substance consisting of cellulose (a white solid) from trees, such as beech or spruce. The fibers of this material are extracted from small pieces of wood. Viscose as a fabric feels pleasant, is soft and therefore wears comfortably. It falls naturally and can be dyed in bright colors. The material itself is basically not very strong, it wrinkles faster. Garments made of viscose, on the other hand, are easy to care for. Wash viscose on a fine wash cycle, 30 degrees and with detergent for colored laundry. White detergent may contain bleach and is therefore only suitable for pure whites. Do not put your viscose garment in the dryer, but let it dry on a hanger. Your item may sometimes feel a bit hard after washing, but after drying the fabric will feel soft again. It is recommended to gently shape viscose - when the fabric is wet - already. Ironing can be done on a medium temperature. Iron carefully, because if ironed too hard, the fabric can get out of shape.

acrylic-Zusss

Acrylic is a synthetic fiber that is very similar in base to wool. Unlike wool, acrylic's synthetic fibers are hard-wearing. Acrylic is soft, warm, retains its color and resists both creases and stains well. Garments made from acrylic are also an excellent substitute for people who like wool but are allergic to it. As much as possible, wash acrylic inside out in a laundry bag to avoid wear and tear. Wash at up to 30 degrees on a delicate cycle on the lowest spin setting. Add fabric softener to reduce static effects. Dry acrylic on a drying rack and not in the dryer. Ironing your garment can be done inside out on a low temperature.

lyocell-Zusss

Lyocell is a fabric made from cellulose (a white solid) from trees. The most well-known form is tencel, a branded fabric made from eucalyptus wood. The fabric lyocell has a subtle, silky sheen. The material is durable, supple and soft. Lyocell is very strong and absorbs water even better than cotton. The material is warm in winter and cool in summer because it ventilates well. Clothes made of lyocell can be machine washed at 30 degrees. Use detergent for colored laundry to avoid discoloration. Lyocell dries quickly on a drying rack. The fabric does not crease easily, so ironing is not necessary. This makes this fabric easy to maintain.

suede-Zusss

Suede is a type of leather made from the inside of leather. The leather has a velvety, soft texture. Its open structure does make it more susceptible to dirt and moisture. It is therefore advisable to treat the slippers with a water-repellent spray before use. Suede is a very fine material for making shoes because it is supple and strong. Due to its elasticity, it forms easily around the foot. When suede gets wet, let it air dry. Drying in the sun or near the heater can cause color change and rings. Light stains can be removed with a soft leather sponge. Gently dab and or rub very gently. Then re-spray. To treat grease stains, you can apply talcum powder to the stain. For large stains, preferably take the item to a leather specialist to avoid damage.

vegan-leather-Zusss

Our bags are made of PolyUrethane (PU) and are produced without animal suffering. PU cannot necessarily be called sustainable, as the production process does not contain biodegradable substances. Although there are innovative more environmentally friendly alternatives today such as corn leather or cork, this is not for every brand to employ in view of user guarantee for customers. PU can be distinguished from genuine leather by looking at the price. The production of genuine leather is a lot more costly. PU is also waterproof, soft and lighter in weight. You easily take a damp cloth over it to clean it. Beware of cleaning products that contain grease. That can affect both the color and the fabric.

For Zusss, the use of PU is currently the most animal-friendly form of producing our bags. Of course, we are constantly looking at the possibilities within our reach to keep improving and making production processes more sustainable. Find a PU bag that suits you in the bags category.

stainless steel-Zusss

Stainless steel, also called stainless steel, is incredibly strong. Stainless steel is also lightweight, for optimal comfort. The material does not discolor and actually lasts indefinitely. Still, your jewelry can use a refresh from time to time. If only for hygiene. Soak your jewelry in lukewarm water. Do not use chlorinated water. Remove dirt with a soft, unused toothbrush or cloth. Then polish your jewelry with a cloth and some baby oil. This way, your jewelry will always shine. To prevent your jewelry from getting dirty, take it off during sports and swimming and avoid hair products and perfume.
