Materials & care

At Zusss, we select our materials with care. Each fabric has its own special properties. Comfort, quality, and sustainability are among the key pillars in the design of the Zusss collection. To maintain the quality of your new Zusss garment, we are happy to provide you with care tips for each material. Together, we can ensure that you can enjoy your garment for longer.

Before a Zusss item goes into production, we carry out washing and pilling tests. This minimizes shrinkage and pilling of fabrics, although unfortunately it cannot be completely prevented. Therefore, always follow the washing instructions on the care label inside each garment. Would you like to read more about materials and how to care for them? cotton-Zusss

Cotton is a strong fiber and therefore a durable material. It is highly resistant to wear and tear. Cotton is a natural fiber that grows from the seeds of the cotton plant. The material is breathable. Cotton feels pleasant against the skin. Wash garments inside out as much as possible. Maintain a temperature of 30 degrees when washing cotton. Dry inside out, hanging on a drying rack in indirect sunlight. Cotton has low elasticity and can therefore crease easily. Iron your cotton blend garments inside out at a maximum temperature of 110 degrees.

polyester and polyamide - Zusss

Polyester and polyamide are smooth, lightweight, durable fabrics. A combination of various synthetic fibers that are wear-resistant. These materials are characterized by their color retention. They are immune to sunlight, easy to wash, and do not shrink. They can be washed inside out at 30 degrees and dry very quickly. If you want to iron them, do so inside out, but this is usually not necessary. This fabric is lightweight, easy to fold, and dries quickly because it is water-repellent.

linen-Zusss

Linen is characterized by its crease resistance, breathability, softness, and environmental friendliness. Linen is the strongest type of plant fiber. Linen shirts and linen pants are breathable and ventilate well. Linen may stretch slightly when worn, but it will return to its original shape after washing. Do not wash linen at temperatures higher than 30 degrees Celsius. Use as few chemical products as possible on linen, as these can damage the fibers. Carefully pull the garment into shape and hang it inside out on a drying rack. In some cases, linen can be tumble dried. Please read the care label for each item. Linen has low elasticity and therefore creases easily. Linen can be ironed carefully.

wool-Sisters

Wool is an animal fiber consisting of soft, thin animal hairs, including those from sheep. Wool is an elastic and breathable material and therefore retains less heat and odors. Nothing or hardly anything is added to wool. However, this can cause your garment to pill more quickly. This is characteristic of wool. You can carefully remove the pills from your clothing with a special pill remover. Wool is nice and soft and wrinkle-free. Wash your woolen items as little as possible to maintain their quality. It is best to air your item lying flat. Would you rather wash it? Then we recommend using a hand wash/wool wash program and letting it dry flat in the air. It is best not to use an iron. Store your woolen item lying flat in the closet. This will prevent the knit from stretching or growing.

denim-Sisters

Denim is a strong, twill-woven cotton fabric. To make jeans blue, cotton yarns are twisted into rope and dyed. The weaving technique, twill weave, makes the fabric very strong. To keep denim looking good, wash your garment inside out. Use a detergent for colored laundry. During the first wash(es), denim garments may bleed color. Therefore, wash them with similar colors. Hang denim inside out to dry. Occasionally, you can put denim in the dryer, but at a low temperature. Follow the advice on the care label for each item. Denim can be steamed and ironed. This is not necessarily necessary if it is hung up after washing.

viscose-Zusss

Viscose is a natural fabric made from cellulose (a white solid) from trees such as beech or spruce. The fibers of this material are extracted from small pieces of wood. Viscose fabric feels pleasant, is soft, and is therefore comfortable to wear. It drapes naturally and can be dyed in bright colors. The material itself is not very strong and creases easily. However, viscose garments are easy to care for. Wash viscose on a delicate cycle at 30 degrees Celsius with a detergent for colored laundry. White detergent may contain bleach and is therefore only suitable for pure white laundry. Do not put your viscose garment in the dryer; instead, let it dry on a hanger. Your item may feel a little stiff after washing, but the fabric will feel soft again after drying. It is advisable to gently reshape viscose while the fabric is still wet. Iron at a medium temperature. Iron carefully, as ironing too hard can cause the fabric to lose its shape.

acrylic-Zusss

Acrylic is a synthetic fiber that is very similar to wool. Unlike wool, acrylic synthetic fibers are highly durable. Acrylic is soft, warm, retains its color, and is resistant to both wrinkles and stains. Acrylic garments are also an excellent alternative for people who love wool but are allergic to it. Whenever possible, wash acrylic inside out in a laundry bag to prevent wear and tear. Wash at a maximum of 30 degrees on a delicate cycle with the lowest spin setting. Add fabric softener to reduce static effects. Dry acrylic on a drying rack and not in the dryer. You can iron your garment inside out at a low temperature.

lyocell-Sisters

Lyocell is a fabric made from cellulose (a white solid substance) from trees. The best-known form is Tencel, a brand name fabric made from eucalyptus wood. Lyocell fabric has a subtle, silky sheen. The material is durable, supple, and soft. Lyocell is very strong and absorbs water even better than cotton. The material is warm in winter and cool in summer because it ventilates well. Lyocell clothing can be washed at 30 degrees in the washing machine. Use a detergent for colored laundry to prevent discoloration. Lyocell dries quickly on a drying rack. The fabric does not crease easily, so ironing is not necessary. This makes the fabric easy to care for.

suede-Zusss

Suede is a type of leather made from the inside of leather. The leather has a velvety, soft texture. Due to its open structure, it is more sensitive to dirt and moisture. It is therefore advisable to treat the slippers with a water-repellent spray before use. Suede is a very fine material for making shoes because it is supple and strong. Its elasticity allows it to mold easily to the foot. If suede gets wet, allow it to air dry. Drying in the sun or near a heater can cause color changes and rings. Light stains can be removed with a soft leather sponge. Dab gently or rub very softly. Then spray again. To treat grease stains, you can let talcum powder soak into the stain. For large stains, it is best to take the item to a leather specialist to prevent damage.

vegan leather Zusss

Our bags are made from polyurethane (PU) and are produced without animal cruelty. PU cannot be considered sustainable by definition, as the production process involves non-biodegradable substances. Although there are now innovative, more environmentally friendly alternatives such as corn leather or cork, not every brand can use these with a view to guaranteeing customer satisfaction. PU can be distinguished from real leather by looking at the price. The production of real leather is a lot more expensive. PU is also water-resistant, soft, and lighter in weight. You can easily wipe it clean with a damp cloth. Be careful with cleaning products that contain grease, as these can damage both the color and the fabric.

For Zusss, the use of PU is currently the most animal-friendly way to produce our bags. Naturally, we are constantly looking at the possibilities within our reach to continuously improve and make our production processes more sustainable. Find a PU bag that suits you in the bags category.

stainless steel-Zusss

Stainless steel, also known as high-grade steel, is incredibly strong. Stainless steel is also lightweight, ensuring optimal comfort when worn. The material does not discolor and is virtually indestructible. However, your jewelry may need a refresh from time to time, if only for hygiene reasons. Place your jewelry in lukewarm soapy water. Do not use soap containing chlorine. Remove dirt with a soft, unused toothbrush or cloth. Then polish your jewelry with a cloth and, if necessary, some baby oil. This will keep your jewelry shining. To prevent your jewelry from getting dirty, take it off when exercising and swimming, and avoid hair products and perfume.
