I'm Jorian, 31 years old, mother to a sweet little boy named Faas who is just over six months old, and bonus mom to Gijs (9 years old). Together with the nicest man in the world, we live in a village near Rotterdam. People describe me as a happy person, and that's true; I try to bring cheerfulness to everything. A good cup of coffee, a cozy hotspot with a beautiful interior and good food, photography, flowers, creating nice corners in my home or for work, wrapping gifts, setting the table for a dinner party, pinning endless pictures on Pinterest—these things make me instantly happy.

Time to rhyme and write poetry, so grab your pen and notebook. You can make a gift extra personal by writing a poem to go with it. Do you find writing poetry difficult and don't know how to go about it? Don't worry, Jorian is happy to help you get started. Let's begin.

Poetry, step by step

Time to pick up your pen and write a beautiful poem for your loved one. With thesetips, you can get started with rhyming quickly and easily. Pour yourself a drink and grab some gingerbread cookies. Let's get started!

First, think about who it is aimed at and choose a theme. Write down a few words that you think suit the person you are rhyming for. What do you want to convey with your poem?

Create short sentences and incorporate the words you have written down. Try to give each sentence meaning. You can make the words rhyme, but this is not essential. When something arises from emotion, it is just as beautiful!

Look up some example words for inspiration. When you read a little here and there, you will naturally start to get some nice ideas. Once you start delving into this, you will quickly get into the spirit of things. First, write down everything that comes to mind in a draft. That way, you can delete or add words here and there.

When your draft seems "complete," you can start writing your poem or rhyme on the card. Grab your nicest pen and write it by hand. That makes it personal. Put your card in an envelope and decorate the envelope withstamps and glitter. Nice and festive!
To finish it off, seal the envelope with a piece of tape. This will immediately give it a cheerful look!

Your poem is now complete and beautifully packaged. You must be curious to see the recipient's reaction!
